Dorado Sunday!

Hola People,

Another weeks has gone by of some awesome fishing, through out the week we have had a big change in the weather and swells, and fish are starting to come in closer every day, specially the dorado, if you don’t believe me, just wait until you read our satisfied customers catch.

Shane and Vanesa Moeller aboard our 28′ Tantrum with captain Ramon and mate Juan, brought in 8 dorados, and just as they where getting ready to come in landed a sailfish, now, sailfish have been very popular this week with our customers, had a total of about 4 this week.

Mr. Aaron Richardson and Family, headed out in RumRunnin with captain Javier and mate Jesus , coming back in with only 11 dorado, I am sure they kept them busy all morning!

RobRoy McDonald, Trey Butler, Michael Evans, Jacob Mase and Casey Bump went out aboard Nuevo with captain Alex and mate Manuel, landed 10 dorados, like i was saying, this was definitely a “dorado sunday”

Thank you and Farewell!

Hello peeps!

As those close to me know, I am not good with goodbyes so I do apologize if this is just a short note. I truly am humbled to have worked with RedRum Sportfishing, I am proud of the achievements that we accomplished and am thankful for every lesson learned.

It’s with great sadness that I walk out of this office and close the door behind me for the very last time.
Ryan, Brooke and John: Thank you for allowing me to work with you guys, for the opportunity given, for your confidence in me, trust and above all for your friendship. I have learned a lot in these past two years and now that I start off a new journey back in Mexico City, I know I will take all that you’ve taught me.

Thank you all once again, for reading my posts, for your comments, for your time.

Getting the ultimate experience!

Hola People!

So i finally got the chance to head out there for a full day of fishing, i gotta say it was awesome!

I went out with Joey Minvielle aboard RumRunnin, with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus, we where probably out there for about 30 min, when we landed a dorado, Joey was fighting it for a bit but finally reeled it in. as we where getting closer to the end, we spotted a marlin Javier threw in a live bait and we caught it, a nice 130 lbs, we released it and figured we’d give someone else a shot at it. Over all a great first experience.

James Rebnar, Chris Heinfield Ryan Gordon, Brian Morrow, Andrew Bohme and Zack Samorano fished on El Nuevo with Captain ALex and Mate Manuel, brought back a catch of 3 dorado i marlin and 1 tuna.

Ok, so these guys where pretty serious, landing the biggest marlin in the past weeks, a 250lbs blues marlin, Tom Duffi, Gordon Nesbit and Erick Yazel a board RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo, but they did not stop there they also brought in 2 dorado and a tripped marlin.

well, as always another good day in the beautiful blue waters of Cabo San Lucas!

Thanks for reading.

Another Good Day of Fishing in Paradise!

Hello Folks!

We’ve been having some great days of fishing out there, all our customers have been coming in with big smiles on their faces, sign of a good day of fishing!

Mark Lookingbill and Cliff Martin from Texas, went out on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Edgar, bringing in a catch of 6 skipjacks and 2 dorados.

Joey Minvielle one of our repeat customers, went out with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan on TanTrum, by the time they had to return to the dock, they had landed one sailfish which would be the third one of the year, and one 120lbs marlin, but it din’t stop there, Joey also landed 4 dorado, and all of this on his fist day o of 5!

Aboard our 31′ RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo, where brothers Keith, Scott and Vince Hamershom, they came in with 2 dorado and 1 tuna, as you have been reading there has been a lot of dorado biting almost every boat that goes out is bringing some in, who ever said fishing wasn’t good this time of the year!

Dorado have arrived in droves- Cabo San Lucas Weekly Update 7/17-7/24

This week was an interesting one to say the least with the formation, and ultimately the disappearance of Hurricane Dora. Dora never made it close to Cabo (200 miles at it’s closest,) not even a little rain unfortunately. I know most readers/tourists could care less for rain when they are down in Cabo, but we really need it right now. Anyway, as with any pressure system and resulting storm, you never really know what to expect when it comes to the seas and the fishing.

With mid 80 degree water wrapped all around the cape, we had some great fishing this past week. A mixed bag of species is running around the Herradura, the Jaime Bank and even up towards the Golden Gate. Large schools of black Porpoise have held nice 30-60lb Yellowfin Tuna. A few Wahoo and Sailfish have been slamming the spreads, Striped Marlin have been consistent, and a few small Blue Marlin in the 150-300lb range were mentioned around the docks. Biggest development in fishing the past week or so has been the emergence of the Dorado, finally.

While we had seen a few Yellow flags flying here and there so far this year, this past week it looked the marina was repainted Yellow. Every boat had several Dorado flags flying at the end of the day, and some nice size fish in the 30-50lb range are coming back with the happy clients, along with the standard 10-20lb fish.

Just when I had perfected a Blackened Yellowfin with a creamy Cilantro sauce, the Dorado come in… Tough living, but someone has to make sure all the RedRum Sportfishing Clients are happy everyday.

More Dorado along the way.

Good Morning people,

Things have been great here in Cabo, fishing is outstanding, Jerry is about ready to take control of the office and I’m ready to say farewell.

Yesterday I finally met Bruin, the future Heir of RedRum Sportfishing, a month afterwards and I can surely say that this baby looks a lot like Ryan. I held the baby for a few minutes before the waterworks came along and had to hand him over to his momma! Bruin has huge hands and arms, He’ll be reeling in big fish in a nick of time!

Yesterday we had 3 boats out fishing and they all did an awesome job reeling in dorado, tuna and Marlin.

On RedRum We had Scott Homersham fishing for a full day on RedRum. This was round 2 for him and on this second trip they caught 1 Dorado and a 160 Lbs Marlin. Just a day before they had landed 7 Dorado between 20-25 Lbs and 1 Sailfish around 70 Lbs. First sailfish of the season! Today these guys are out fishing for their third and final round so we wish them lots of success! We’ll keep you posted.

Dustin Baldwin, Natasha, Richard and Erika fished on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus and they had a great day out there with 4 Dorado and 1 Tuna. They came back to the office and were stoked about their trip. We’re always glad to see happy customers!

And last but not least Jack Dean who booked a Play & Stay Package after visiting the Sacramento Trade show. On their second trip they landed 2 more dorado from what they had already caught a day before. We added that fish to what they already have in our freezers. They will be fishing one more time on Wednesday. Lets see how they do!

It’s a small world!

Hey Guys,

So far so good, it seems like Dora is dying out and will not hit Cabo, which is great news for all of us! Of course we are expecting a few showers, but then again you can never trust the weather channel, supposedly yesterday we were gonna get thunderstorms but that didn’t happen. Cabo was nice, sunny and hot!!!

That being said, we are still tracking down this Dora T.S and will let you guys know if there are any major did not do so good, a bit slow for them. We won’t mention names.

Danny Kamalski, Cheryl Kamalski, Katie Larson and Brett Kamalski fished on our 32’ RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. They had an awesome day out in the water catching a total of 4 yellowfin tunas and 1 Dorado. I think it was Katie who got a bit seasick, but then again her crew said she always gets sick! They did say they bring her along because she has a mysterious way to attract fish! Won’t go into details, but let’s keep Katie fishing! She’s your good luck charm. Thanks for the pics, we’ll post them shortly!

Bay Area boys, Brandon Nelson, Nick McKluskey, Dave Silva, Arthur Denio and Jimmy Ammick fished on our 33’ Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate manuel, they did pretty good out in the water as well, landing a total of 1 tuna, 1 dorado and 1 striped marlin, pretty much covered the offshore fishing, just missed out on Wahoo. When I first booked this boat I had told Ryan that the name Brandon Nelson rang a bell. When I was in Elementary there was a kid in my class with that same name, didn’t think much about it but I was curious to find out if it was that Brandon Nelson. To my surprise I started talking to this group yesterday morning and we got talking that Brandon Nelson was in fact from Vallejo (City where I’m from) and that he was that kid in my class.

It’s a small world…afterall!

And from New Orleans, we had Mundy Rushing, Brandi Rushing, Tommy Barrett and Randi Selby fishing on our 31’ Redrum with Captain Omar and mate Americo. These guys wanted fish and so they got it! It was a great day for them, they landed a total of 5 Dorado and 1 Tuna. They came back to the office and were psyched with their fishing trip and catch.

Thanks for reading.

Catch of the day!

Hey guys!

My name is Jerry and i will be the one taking over for Nick as Office Manager here , he is a great guy and we wish him all the best!.This will be the firs post of many to come, I’m super thrilled to begin this new adventure and be part of Team RedRum.

It was a good day yesterday, for Barry Taylor, who even though left the dock at 9 am, came back a happy camper with a catch of 6 tunas, not bad at all if you ask me!, Russel Tucker and family had great luck, with only 2 hours out there they landed a 125 lb Marlin, and even though it was a half day trip they ended up with 6 more dorado..awesome!

Stay tuned for tomorrows report I’m sure it will be quite interesting!

Until then!

Marlin BITE

Hey Peeps,

I know it’s been a few days since I last updated the fish report, but you can imagine how things have been busy here in the office…All Crazy!
Anyhow, we’ve been having great days in the water. Of course there has been a couple of boats that have not had as much luck as the rest, but they still have a great time out in the water…That’s why it’s fishing, not catching.

Luis Costa and Emelyne Interior fished on our 28′ Tantrum with Captain Ramon and Mate Edgar. This nice couple was supposed to fish for a half day trip and we were expecting them to be back by noon, however, they landed their first striped Marlin 30 mins. after they took off. It was a nice 140 Lbs!
Luis and Emelyne took turns trying to land this fish and they succeeded. They decided to call it a day after their successful catch and were back in the office by 10:30 AM. The showed pictures of their awesome catch and were super excited since this is their first Marlin catch! Congrats you two. They promised to send in pictures and we’ll be posting a few by the end of this week.

We also had a bachelor group fishing with us on two boats. A total of 8 super cool guys who called in and booked two boats for 12 but lost a few by 6:00 AM. Richard Urbantrick and his party of 8 were divided into two groups. The first group fished on our 32′ RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. They landed a total of 2 striped Marlin between 120 Lbs and 160 Lbs. The first one was caught just 6 miles off shore while the biggest was only 4 miles away!

On Cabo Chica we had the remaining 4 guys fishing and throughout their day they managed to land a Striped Marlin as well. This one was a 120 Pounder. RumRunnin had to come back early because of a tech. problem but the guys decided to go back out on Saturday to continue their fishing trip. I don’t know who the groom is, but RedRum wishes the happy couple a life long of happiness.

BTW, Jerry is doing great in the office, he’s all hands on and ready to start booking boats on his own! Let’s give him a warm welcome.
and I also forgot to mention that all the Marlins were caught and released.

Nick

Welcome Aboard Jerry!

Hey Guys,

I am glad to inform that we have found the next office manager for RedRum Sportfishing…of course this saddens me a lot because this means that my last days with RedRum are closer and this chapter in my life is coming to an end. Just a couple of weeks and I’ll be out of here. I decided to quit RedRum to open up a small business back in Mexico City and the whole RedRum Staff has been very supportive about this.

I know that Jerry will be a great office manager. He was born in Mexico City but grew up in Escondido California and then moved to Monterrey Mexico a few years later. He has a major in International Business and has worked in the hotel industry for the last 10 years. Has a 5 yr old son
who he enjoys and loves spending time with, he’s also interested in Watching movies and playing the guitar.

Jerry doesn’t have much experience in fishing but he is always eager to learn new things.

Let’s welcome Jerry Sanchez, who will be the one to greet you guys with a smile every morning and provide top of the line Customer Service!

Welcome aboard Jerry!

Nick
