Happy Monday everybody. We never really get the Monday blues around here, it is like Friday all week long! The water has calmed down a lot since last week and the sun is shining and warming up the slight nip we have recently had in the air. We were mainly along the Sea of Cortez, trying to get into some warmer water.
Today we had Dan Tucker and buddy Tim coming off a Carnival Cruise. They went out on Tantrum with Manuel and Edgar for a full day of fishing. They were pretty happy with the turn out, catching and releasing a Striped Marlin, 1 Yellowtail and a Bonito.
Next up, we had Jeff Volkman who works for RedRum on occasion out on RedRum with his crew and Captain Omar and Mate Americo. They did not have a lot of luck, though they did at some point have 4 Striped Marlin on the line, and one almost all the way to the boat, they never managed to pull one up close enough to snap a photo. They will be back on Thursday though and we hope their luck changes!
The Laborde family, including Ann,Tommy, John, Michelle and Sarah, were back at it today, this time heading offshore to try for a Marlin bite. They had no luck with the Marlin and only managed to pull in 1 Skipjack, which they released. They were still in good spirits and decided to end their night at one of our favorite spots, Misiones de Kino.
Scott Weaver, who is signed up for three days of fishing here at RedRum, started out his first day with Susan and another friend on RumRunnin with Javier and Jesus 1. They had an eventful day, catching a Striped marlin that was 8ft. 8in. in length weighing around 140. They also pulled in 3 Skipjack which they released and an Amberjack, which they had cooked up for dinner.
Jacob Stappler and Mica Trani walked into the office after deciding to take a spur of the moment trip to cabo and not having planned their fishing. We did not have any boats available this week, so we put them on a Partner boat, Miranda with Captain Ramon and Mate Jesus. They had an awesome day, each one Catching and Releasing a Striped Marlin. They will be back at it tomorrow!
I met an awesome couple this week, Wes and Sally Finley. They were here this weekend shooting the breeze with me and I got to know them a little. They have been fishing with us in the past and were excited about their trip back out with us. Noone was sadder than me when they came back to the office and said they did not get so much as a bite. They seemed ok, said that was how fishing is, and they are right, but it sure isn’t any fun! At leaset I met some really nice people out of the whole deal and I am sure they will be back around at some point!
Until Next Time,
Tiffany
