Cabo San Lucas Fish Report – Feb 7&8

If Sierra (Spanish Mackerel) is what you like, you would not be disappointed….. We are seeing lots of Sierra on the inshore, some Yellowtail as well.

Tuesday, we had Tim Thornton and Paul Hamilton out on Tantrum with Captain Manuel and Mate Americo. They started out on the inshore, then headed offshore out past the lighthouse. They caught 4 Yellowfin Tuna, 2 Dorado and Released a Striped Marlin.

Roger Witt along with Joe and Glenda Horner (Happy Birthday Glenda!!) were out on ReelRum fishing for a full day with Ramon and Juan. They had a good day catching Sierra.

Today was my first day out deep sea fishing EVER! My husband, Benny and I went out with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus on Rum Runnin. We fished on the inshore catching a total of 18 Sierra. I had a great time, learning about the equipment and how to use it, different fishing “lingo” and how it is done out there, so maybe next time you ask me a question, I will not be completely in the dark!

I had the opportunity to meet Brian Grant, retired NBA star this morning, along with his friends Ben Contin and Alan Dulin. These guys were super friendly. They did a full day on the Marlin Queen with Captain Danny and Mate Chito. They were our only casualty today, as they came back empty-handed. Hopefully next time, when the water temps change, we can have a full day of catching for these gentlemen!

Wednesday we had a party of eight, Mike Schafer, Pete Andrew, Brian and Nick Davis, Keith and Caroline Rigg, Ray Seibert and Eddie Martinizzi. They opted to charter two boats, ReelRum and RedRum. In total the boats brought back 4 Yellowtail and 33 Sierra. They took most of the fish and had it prepared for a nice dinner.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon and Meg Grippin on Wednesday, who did a full day on RumRunnin with Captain Jesus and Mate Thomas. They had lots of fun and non-stop action, boating their limit for Sierra, 30 and 1 Yellowtail. We vacuum sealed their catch and they ended up walking away with a “hefty” bag of fish that will last them AT LEAST the remainder of the month they have here in Cabo.

Edmund Brooks and his family boarded El Nuevo Wednesday morning, fishing with captain Alex. They had a great day fishing in-shore where they caught 16 Sierra, but moved offshore looking for maybe some Yellowfin or Marlin and unfortunately had no luck out there. They are seasoned fisherman though and had a great time, so I’m sure we will see them back here with us before too long!

Thanks for Reading,

Tiffany

Is it safe to assume the fishing is slow since the daily report hasn’t been update for almost a week?
