Hola friends and a very Merry Christmas to all of our faithful RedRum blog readers 🙂 I hope Santa brings you everything you want this year!
The water temp was still hovering right around 74 this week. So not much change there, but we did have a big change in the Striped Marlin bite this week. It went down significantly, though it was not non-existent! We did have some folks, The Allen’s who went out twice with us, on 2 different boats looking for Marlin and had no luck either day. Bummer for those guys, but maybe if they give us another try around October next year, we can get them hooked up, chances are way better, at least!!
The Beier’s were with us this week as well, caught a ton of Spanish Mackerel on the inshore of the Pacific side and released a Striped Marlin which they caught around Playa Migrino, they were super stoked as this was their first ever Marlin. Other boats were not so lucky in the Marlin department, we did see a few Dorado and lots of Spanish Mackerel. The 24th & 25th, we were all spending time with our family celebrating the Christmas Holiday, so there are no fishin’ reports for those days, but we were back at it on Thursday!! Nashabeh Wassim, Stacey and son Luca had an awesome day aboard Tantrum with Juan and Sal. They boated 6 Dorado, 2 Spanish Mackerel and 4 Triggerfish. Great day for them, looks like Luca had a great time too!!
Scott Hebert who was here on one of our Stay & Play Packages in conjunction with his CCA chapter out of Layfayeete, LA fished for 2 days on board El Nuevo. His fam had a great time, altogether, they caught 16 Dorado and released 3 Striped Marlin.
Cameron Nichols came in a little forlorn about his day on 19’s Toy, said he caught nothing, then said, well, we did get a Mako Shark…. Well that is awesome! I told him that was a great catch and he should have kept it, because shark is actually really good eating! I think he felt a little better about it after that! There were quite a few more Dorado caught over the weekend, along with that of Vittoria Solda, who fished with Robert Bailey and they shared a boat with Veteran RedRum anglers Tiffany and Barry Anderson. They had a good time and also caught a few Dorado.
Last but not least, we had the Yarborough clan on Sunday fishing aboard 3 boats. In all, they boated 15 Dorado, made for a pretty nice dinner!!
I hope you all are having a great Holiday season!!! Thanks for Reading,
