Thanks for checking in again this week folks! We had an amazing week for Striped Marlin this week. Still fishing up by the 1150 bank on the Sea of Cortez. A lot of boats got lucky and those that did not still spotted some out there. Rolling into a full moon this weekend, the fishing did slow down a bit, especially Saturday and Sunday, but the beginning of the week was great!
Tara Dutta and crew on Tantrum fished a full day and released 2 Striped Marlin on Monday, Nathan Engstrom and his buddies also released a Striped Marlin off of El Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Charlie. Katie Luther and her friend did a 1/2 day on ReelRum and fished inshore Pacific side. They caught 6 Skipjack a couple of Bonita and a Yellowfin Tuna. Tuesday all of our boats caught a Striped Marlin each except for Lewis Improta and his buddies and they caught a nice Thresher Shark. They did go back out on Tantrum again on Thursday and had some luck with the Striped Marlin. They released 2 to fight another day. Joe in the picture caught the largest of the day, estimated 180 pounder, was 100 inches. Wednesday 2 of 3 boats out released a Striped Marlin, except for TIm Denton and Elise Sanders. Such nice folk. They had 3 days booked on the same boat and got no love on the Marlin bites the first 2 days. Friday, when the fishing got slower, their crew dug in and caught 2 Striped Marlin, one for each of them! Glad their trip was not a bust!! Frank Tekyl and his group here on one of our play & stay packages in conjunction with their local CCA chapter released a Striped Marlin on Wednesday and Friday, no luck at all. That luck was shared by 2 other boats, but Jared Rallison and his crew on board Top Gun reeled in a Blue Shark and Jim Gunville a Striped Marlin! Saturday, the full moon was UPON us and the fishing was slow….. Matthew Hulse fished for a 1/2 day on ReelRum, they bottom fished on the Pacific and picked up a few small fish. Alexandra Pate and her gang fished on RedRum for a 1/2 day and had the best day, 6 Amberjack and 4 Spanish Mackerel, all on the Pacific. The boats that headed to the Cortez for a possible Marlin, saw no action. Sunday Chuck Alimonda and friends fished aboard 19’s Toy for the day and caught their Dinner, a Dorado!
We are just waiting for the Dorado action to start picking up, should be anytime now!!
