Amigoosss!!! Been a pretty good week of fishing here in Cabo. We have had some really great days and then just average. Some seem to think the above average water temps on the Cortez side may have to do with the El Niño year we are having. Monday and Tuesday were a great start to the week with quite a few Dorado being caught, some nice ones too. Ashley Jenkins pulled in this nice one, which they enjoyed for dinner. Tuesday was not so hot for our 1/2 day boats, but other than that, we had pretty good success rates all week.
We started seeing quite a few Sailfish this week as well. Jordan Rittman released this one on RUmRUnnin with the Jesus’s while Joel Lutz enjoyed releasing a Striped Marlin. As the one day good, next day slow rule went, we had a pretty slow one on Wednesday.
Thursday things picked back up a when we almost caught 2 Blue Marlin. Caroline Garber and her group released a Striped Marlin and boated a large Dorado while losing a huge Blue Marlin almost at the boat. We call that a “Mexican” release anyway 🙂 Craig Fisher on board Tantrum actually got his 220lb Blue to the boat! Charles Fulgium and his crew also had a great day releasing 3 Striped Marlin.
Friday was a bit slow again, with boats bringing in a couple of fish at the most and again the 1/2 day boat no luck. Sean Boudreaux and crew were happy that they released 2 Striped Marlin on RUmRUnnin.
Saturday was a little better with out 1/2 day boat catching a Dorado and the other two boats having a great day. Brent Jensen on ReelRUm released 2 Sailfish AND a Striped Marlin-I bet his arms were sore the next day! Mark Land and Charles Rinzler also had an awesome day when they landed their Blue Marlin, and estimated 260lbs. They also released a Striped Marlin and caught 5 Yellowfin Tuna. Sunday went pretty good as well with all boats successful.
