Lots of Dorado and Tuna caught the past few days, having to run about 20 miles due south. Finally some crystal clear, warm blue water with tons of bait and lots of fish. Word spread quickly this morning about a buoy that someone found yesterday with tons of Dorado and Wahoo around. There were even two Swordfish hooked yesterday in the same area, one of which was landed.
Weekly Fish Report
FINALLY! A great day of fishing for all of our anglers. The water temp has cooled down along the inshore so our boats are going off-shore at least 20-25 miles out, today everybody on the Pacific side.
Scott Larson and Melanie and Brad Reed headed off on ReelRum for a 1/2 day with Ramon & Juan. They enjoyed their day, each catching a Yellowfin Tuna.
Jeffery Brighton and his crew, Rob, Jeff Tony and Daniel headed out on RedRum also for a 1/2 day. They had the same luck and caught 3 Yellowfin Tuna.
Father and Son, Joe and Stuart Moyle along with buddy Harry Schmaltz decided on a full day with Captain Alex and Mate Jesus on El Nuevo. These seasoned anglers had a great day despite the fact that Harry was a little under the weather, not due to sea-sickness believe it or not, but he braved the full day without missing a beat. These guys caught 2 Yellowfin Tuna and a Dorado. They will be back on Wednesday to give it another go!
Dawn Rowley, one of our repeat customers was back this time with some of her girlfriends. Michele Pacheco, Sabrina Fontaine and Stephanie Moniz. They had a great day catching fish with 3 Yellofin and 1 Dorado to show for their outing. They will be back in tomorrow to catch some more!

Same ol’ same ol’, fishing spotty, I won’t bore you with the details, we did have some great highlights this weekend though, so let’s get down to it!
Friday was a rough day out on the water, the only good news we had was a 1/2 day boat that left late because it came of the Carnival Cruise ship. Ken Murphy and his crew headed out on Tantrum, where they ventured only 12 miles out by the lighthouse on the Pacific. They caught and released 2 Striped Marlin and a Mako Shark.
Adam and Raj Chandani were out for their last hoo-rah together before Raj has his first baby. Unfortunately, they did not have much luck out there, but we sure do wish him the best of luck in the future with his new addition!
Same went for Matt Bell and wife Jesse out on Nuevo for the day. The water was so rough, Jesse was feelin’ seasick most of the ride. They started on the sea of Cortez hoping to avoid the big swells, then had no luck with the fish and ended their day on the Pacific side. Matt decided to give it another go on Saturday, this time alone. He was out on RedRum this go-round with Omar & Americo. he said it was looking pretty grim all the way up until about noon when he finally caught a nice-size Dorado. It was plenty of fish to take with him and he was excited for his catch, so were we!
The Kristovich clan had an AWESOME day out on the water. Dad Antun and son’s, Antun, Lou and Francesko were out on RumRunnin for a full day with Captain Jesus 3 (Tio Pato) and Juan. They caught 2 Mako Sharks, 2 Dorado and 2 Yellowfin Tuna. Now, that was a lucky day of “catching”!
A super nice foursome, Russ and Peggy Talmadge and Doyle and Melissa Mcowen from Louisiana were out for a second day with us after having lost 2 marlin the first day and catching a Dorado, they were back at it with Captain Alex on El Nuevo. Captain Alex told me people were catching fish all around them, but unfortunately the fish did not want to come near their boat. We sure hope they have better luck next time!
Last but not least we had Bill Hall and Tom Bambury out for two days fishing off the Marlin Queen. They had a great showing over both of the days. Day one they caught 2 Dorado and 3 Yellowfin and today, Sunday, they had the best day I have seen in quite sometime, catching & releasing THREE Striped Marlin and catching 2 more Yellowfin Tuna and a nice 35lb Dorado. Danny and Chito were not playing around this weekend! Great job guys!!
Thank you for reading,
Had a cancellation on Colleen’s Magic this morning, sorry to hear that the Price party had broken rib ruin their trip. Get well soon and we’ll see you soon.
Sam Escheman and his buddies did a half-day today with the guys on Rum Runnin’ today and they caught two big Dorado. They had one for lunch right around the corner at a great new restaurant on the marina called Mis Suenos, and the rest we packed up for them to take home. Plenty of fillets from those two big Dorado!
Next up we had Steve and Earline Rust along with their friends Ken and Carolyn Tompkins. These guys have been fishing with RedRum for a few years now and it’s always great to see our repeat customers! These guys fished with TantRum today and had a banner day with Capt. Manuel and first mate Edgar. Steve wanted to knock a Rooster Fish off his bucket list, so they started the day by doing that. Next it was time to get Ken his Marlin, done. Finally, the ladies brought home dinner by each catching a nice Dorado! Awesome day!
Rusty Whisler and his crew fished on Big Papi today and they had a blast. They really liked fishing with Julio and Ulyses, something we are hearing a lot of lately. They caught and released a Marlin and also caught a Dorado.
