Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, "The Marlin Capital of the World," owes much of its growth and success to the fabled fishing grounds the town was built around. Since the 1950s, tourists have been coming to Cabo, finding their way to the end of the Baja Peninsula and exploring the rich waters where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. Those early adventurers found what’s still here to enjoy: an immense marine playground where hundreds of species congregate and, most importantly, feed.

What brings all these fish to Cabo? There is no simple answer but here are a few of the most important. First, you have the currents and the two seas. The Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez are two distinctly different bodies of water, with different currents, structures, water temperatures, etc. While you won't see a line in the water, like on most maps, trust us, there is a difference. Second, you have the depth of the ocean surrounding the desert land of the Baja Peninsula, including Cabo. You won't see lush vegetation and palm trees growing naturally here. We also have some pretty good size mountains on land, and as you might imagine, the same thing is happening at sea. We get to deeper water here in Cabo faster than almost any place in the world, but we also have these huge mountains and outcroppings that you see on land, also out at sea. These mountains at sea, or "sea mounts," create structure and protection for smaller fish, which in turn brings the bigger fish. Our fishing grounds map points out a few of the different areas where we fish.

We could go on and brag about more things that make Cabo great, but you should come see for yourself. Two massive oceans, meeting in deep warm water, with tons of structure; you’re going to like what you find in Cabo San Lucas.
