What a November we had amigos! Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and tons of Dorado! We started the month out with our final major tournament of the year, The Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot! RedRum hosted 11 teams for the event. The Tuna bite was strong this year, and the Tuna were big! The eventual tournament winner, a 272lb Yellowfin, was caught by a private boat from Cabo San Lucas. Redrum boats weighed some fish, and the guys from Deep Blue Marine Products had the heaviest Wahoo on day 1 until, with 10 minutes to go, a monster showed up. Still a great effort. We had another team, who I won’t mention, that lost a 250+lb boat-side; that one was a heart breaker.
After the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot, we fished Dorado and Marlin along the beach on the Pacific side for the rest of the month. It was a neat Dorado run because we had such a good variety of fish, in regards to size. You might get a double hookup from a pair of 10lb Dorados and then a few minutes later you are slammed by 25-30lb fish. Lots of fun. Most boats averaged 6 Mahi and a few Striped Marlin each trip, so plenty of action.
Top Boat of the Month- Oh So Rojo, our 46′ Bertram, definitely won the award for Top Boat in November. The crew, consisting of Captain Ramon Agundez, and his deckhands Marcos and Ramon Jr,. seem to get better every time they go fishing. These guys were dialed in this month on the Dorado and the Marlin. While these guys were hot the whole month of November, they were on fire during a trip to the Finger Banks right before Thanksgiving. After a 2.5 hour run, they arrived to the grounds at 8am and immediately started catching doubles and triples of Striped Marlin. By 11am they had released 23 Striped Marlin! As you can imagine the clients were exhausted and they asked if they could head towards shore and try for some Dorado. They brought home 12 nice Dorado and released a bunch more. Congrats to the Oh So Rojo crew, awesome job guys!
