Cabo San Lucas Fish Report – Feb 17- 23
Hola everybody! Same ol’ story this week. Still BEAUTIFUL weather here in Cabo and the winds have died down a bit, so that is always a good thing for our anglers. The main attraction this week was around the Golden Gate on the Pacific side we were catching tons of Striped Marlin and I mean tons! We had some luck at the beginning of the week around the 95 bank until we tried mid week and nada…. that is the way the fishies move folks, one day here, next day gone!!
Father and son pair Dan and Mason Parks hit it up 3 days fishing aboard El Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Charlie, day1 not so much luck, but by day 3, Friday, they had released 6 Striped Marlin and kept 6 Spanish Mackerel. Brian Taylor and his fam were back with us again this year and had an awesome day on Tantrum catching some Spanish Mackerel and releasing 2 Striped Marlin. Vet RedRum angler Joe Assenza and his beautiful wife Karen were back out with their fave Captain Omar for a couple of days, caught a Marlin, 3 Dorado, 2 Roosterfish and some Spanish Mackerel. Will Moore and son along with friends enjoyed their day catching and releasing their first ever billfish!
Jeff Volkmann was back with us again this year, he brought along Meg who caught her first offshore fish ever, they released 2 in all one day, then day 2 fished on the inshore for tons of Spanish Mackerel and a SkipJack. Boats were off the charts on the weekend with the Striped Marlin releases with Paul Conlon on RedRum, Rod Watson and Todd Grassi on El Nuevo and our buddy on RedRum all releasing 4. Ryan Olsen and crew on partner boat, Torito, Timothy Brown on Tantrum, Jeremy Hodge on ReelRumand Chris Kawleski onboard RumRunnin with the Jesus’s all released 3 Striped Marlin. Not too shabby my friends.
The Dorado bite has slowed quite a bit, but still in existence, boats looking for Yellowfin have not had much luck, though Julie Green found a couple when she was in search and 1/2 dy boats did not have much luck either.
This time of year, you gotta commit to a full day for the best fishin’!! So, what are YOU waiting for!!
Thanks for reading 🙂
