Cabo San Lucas Fish Report – July 21 – July 27
Hola my friends. It has been an awesome week except for Thursday when a storm came up out of nowhere. Everyone was out fishing and it just hit. All the boats came back in, as the port was closed, with the high winds and choppy seas. We were able to get most folks out another day – if they were up to it! Besides that, the water temperature has remained about the same, maybe a few degrees drop in the middle of the week and after the storm, there was plenty of catching!!
We had a pretty good week, again catching more Sailfish than Striped and Blue Marlin combined. On board Tantrum with Capt. Juan and Mate Humberto, these guys had a great day on Monday, releasing a Striped Marlin, and boating 2 Dorado and a Wahoo. Sean Ashley and son were back at it on Monday also after having fished 2 days prior. They landed a nice Blue Marlin with Omar on RedRum. My amigos Marilyn Atkins and BF Ben Novasad along with Libby Kelsey with BF Saul were back at it aboard 19’s Toy for a couple of days and had a some luck with Dorado and a Striped Marlin, which Libby happily released after she took a couple of nice photos with it….
We had the Orslenes with us aboard RedRUm who acquired their trip through a wounded warrior foundation – what an awesome gift and we salute Damian for fighting for all of our freedom’s that we enjoy in America. He and his wife Lourie slayed it out there onboard RedRum with Cappy Omar, catching 13 Yellowfin Tuna, a nice Sailfish. They were fishing about 18 miles outside of the 95 bank. Ryan and Lauren Foster fished a couple of days with us, SUPER nice couple who caught 2 Striped MArlin, a Sailfish and 5 Yellowfin Tuna in 2 days of fishing. Alan and Luke Andrews along with Todd Dailey fished on RumRunnin with the Jesus’s. They had a great day catching a couple of Dorado, including this really nice bull.
John Chou and Rojan Lee were skeptical about another fishing trip in Cabo, but decided to go out on Wednesday with Ramon and Julian on the ReelRum. They had a great day and send us an email with a photo and these words: ”
Captain Ramon and Julio were great and hooked two Sailfish…at once! After some juggling between the fighting chair and belt, we were able to land both fish. One of which was the beauty in the attached picture that measured over 8 feet. The cherry on top was also landing a Striped Marlin while trolling back to the marina. All fish released safely by the great crew. Looking forward to the next time we’re in Cabo so we can fish with you again!” We hope they make it back again real soon!
Friday ended up being a great day for fishing despite the big storm on Thursday – really it can go either way, but thank goodness it was in favor of our anglers 🙂 Rhonda and Rick Mullins had an awesome day on Tantrum catching 10 Dorado and some Bonita. Gerard Reilly and crew on RumRUnnin for a 1/2 day boated 5 Dorado. Marcao Murallo onboard ReelRum with Ramon and Julian slayed it out there, releasing a Blue Marlin, and reeling in 12 Dorado and 1 Yellowfin Tuna. Great day for those guys! Lari Ainsworth and crew onboard El Nuevo with Alex and Charlie caught 2 Dorado, 2 Yellowfin and released a Sailfish and a Striped Marlin. Saturday slowed down a bit, but we still cought fish!! Jace Horton and fam who have fished with us for years was out on Saturday with his boys and caught 4 nice Dorado.
So, a great week in Cabo, let’s hope this keeps up!!
Until next time my friends 🙂
