Cabo San Lucas Fish Report – May 5-11

What a nice week it has been here in Cabo! Sunny and REALLY warm out. In the 90’s all week long. I must say, it seems to be heating up a little sooner this year than in the past, I’m guessing it is gonna be a real doozy of a summer! Winds died down this week, so that made for happier anglers, though most of our fishing is still taking place out on the Cortez side. Still around the 95 and 1150 we are hooking Striped Marlin. Not a lot of Wahoo or Dorado this week but we did see a few!

Monday Jen and Eric Hoffer started their first of 2 days on the water with Captain Omar aboard our 31′ Bertram RedRum. They raved about their crew, “They were fantastic …..I can never thank them enough.” they sent in a e-mail with some great pictures. This Wahoo was my fave though, because it is just so pretty 🙂 He weighed almost 50lbs.Eric & Jen Hoffer They also released 3 Marlin the next day they were out on Wednesday.

Monday and Tuesday were kind of spotty out there, where we had some boats catch multiple Marlin and some with one or none. Wednesday picked up quite a bit though with all of the boats releasing at least one or more Striped Marlin. Buddies from Washington Troy Tyacke, Kiel Hanson, Scott Farrell and Jesse Paulson had a great day aboard Tantrum releasing 3 Striped Marlin. This one was so big it almost took our mate Humberto back into the water with him!!Tyacke Charterclass=”alignleft size-medium wp-image-3780″ /> It looks to be around 190 – 200. Long time anglers and friends of RedRum Alton and Jenny Odom from my home state of NC had a great run with their favorite crew Ramon and Julio on ReelRum releasing 3 Striped Marlin on the first day, Wednesday, and another one Friday. All boats caught at least one Striped Marlin the rest of the week, including this one reeled in by Charles Alimonda below. Alimonda

Oh, but I take that back, veteran RedRum angler Jeff Dutton fished on RumRunnin 2 days, released 4 Striped Marlin the first and got skunked on Sunday looking for smaller game along the inshore. It has been a little more spotty on the inshore as of late. Well, they still had a great time with the Jesus’s!

Thank you guys for reading!

Until next time,
